In this guide, you'll enable Introduction to Obsidian Sync for your vault and synchronize it with a Local and remote vaults.
Prerequisites
- An Obsidian account. If you don't have one, sign up now.
- An active Obsidian Sync subscription. If you don't have one, subscribe from your account page.
Step 1: Log in with your Obsidian account
- Open Settings.
- In the sidebar, click Account.
- In Email, enter your email.
- In Password, enter your password.
- Click Login.
Step 2: Enable Obsidian Sync
- Open Settings.
- In the sidebar, click Core plugins.
- Enable Sync.
Step 3: Create a new remote vault
- Open Settings.
- In the sidebar, click Sync.
- Next to Pick remote vault, click Choose.
- Click Create new vault.
- In Vault name, enter the name of the remote vault.
- In Encryption password, enter the password for your vault. This creates an end-to-end encrypted vault. For more information, refer to Note books/learn obsidian/obsidian-docs/Obsidian Sync/Security and privacy.
- Click Create.
Step 4: Connect to a remote vault
- Next to your newly created vault, click Connect.
- In Encryption password, enter the password you configured for the vault.
- Click Unlock vault.
- Click Start syncing.
